Prescription Inserts

Hi,
I am thinking about purchasing the prescription insert kit for the ML2. Does anyone have experience with them? The preferred provider (Frame of Choice) said they are for more demoing purposes than long-term use.

I am also thinking of combining different inserts for different eyes, since most people have different numbers for both eyes.

Thanks for reaching out to Magic Leap.

I reviewed some of the questions you have and the answers you’ve received and I’ll try to clear them up as best I can.

First, I don’t have first hand experience using the inserts myself but I have seen them used. The statement that they are used for “Demoing” the product isn’t exactly true, but the confusion there might come from the fact that they offer a “demo kit” that includes insert lenses. The Magic Leap 2 has a battery life of about 3 hours, I would recommend using them for about that duration and then break in between uses.

Second, I don’t believe that they can be combined the way you’re thinking. The inserts are lenses within a holder that slide into the Magic Leap 2, there’s only room for one insert at a time, so unfortunately combining them would be impossible.

Yes! This was very helpful. When I spoke to FrameofChoice, they said the following:

Frame of choice
Yes, Vrajeshri, the Magic Leap Prescription Insert Kit allows for different lenses on each side. Our operating hours are not listed. Please reach out for more details.

Maybe they misunderstood my question, but I think I have enough verification that we can use them for the study.
