Hello Magic Leap forums,
I have three questions about getting a depth image from Magic Leap 2.
Q1:
Is there any function (API) or easy way to get a depth image?
Q2:
Also, what is the maximum size of the depth image that we can get through the function?
Q3:
Is there a technical white paper of depth image including accuracy, FPS and resolution etc.?
Thank you in advance for your support.
Hi @oyriakas,
Welcome to the Magic Leap 2 Developer Forums. We are so excited to have you here engaging with us.
I will reach out to our developers and find out about acquiring depth images through our API's. Will report back as soon as possible.
Thanks,
El
Are you using Unity? Also have you checked out this documentation page? MLDepthCamera | MagicLeap Developer Documentation
The depth camera resolution is 544x480 and the frame rate is 5 hz. We do plan on exposing additional features like short range mode and custom depth sensor frame rates. A future release will have short range mode at 30 fps.
Hi @etucker,
Thank you for your reply!
I understand the features of the depth image.
I have another question about the depth image.
Could I watch (or download) an example of the depth image( or a point cloud etc.) under the long range mode(and the short range mode)?
Best regards,
oyriakas
Hi @oyriakas,
Unfortunately we do not have demo's available at the moment but we are working on this feature and hope to release it in the near future. Also I would like to mention that I mentioned July's release however that is not the guaranteed release date for this feature. I do apologize for misinforming you and I will keep you updated on any news in the future about the release of this feature.
There is a depth camera sene in the Unity examples package that is available to all users. Here's a link to set it up. Install and Setup SDK Examples | MagicLeap Developer Documentation.
Hi @etucker,
Thanks for the information.
No problem, I appreciate your kind reply.
Looking forward to future releases!
