Let me check with our team and see if anyone has stress-tested the WiFi capabilities of the headset.
Hey, I bought this one and unfortunately this does not work with the ML2. Now I have three 2.5G adapters and none of them works with ML2!
They don't transmit any data or do they not go up to 2.5Gbps?
It does not detected by ML2! Although the adapter works without any driver in MacOS, Windows and Chromebook, it does not detect by the ML2. Probably it requires drivers for that!
I have used some other 1G USB-A to ethernet and 1G USB-C to ethernet adapter that are plug and play and they work fine with ML2 and i am getting around 960Mbps. But I need a 2.5G or 5G ethernet adapter that does not require drivers to work with ML2!
I have three 2.5G adapters, one from TREDnet, other from Fairkabe and now recently i bought from Bilkent which is suggested by you! But none of them is detected by ML2!
Could you please please give me a solution here!
Hello @hkumar4, the option @etucker provided is the one we frequently use internally. It should work out of the box. When connecting, your only choice is for DHCP addressing, but please note there isn't any indication in the Magic Leap 2 UI that it is connected.
We have noted your feedback and are planning a Customer Care guide on USB Ethernet tethering.
Also, I don't have stress test results for public release at this time. Our tests are conducted for specific use cases dependent on environment configuration, but generally the equipment should be capable of more than 5Gbps up to 10Gbps theoretically depending on conditions.
Hey @kdowney, first of all there is an indication of ethernet connection in ML2. When an ethernet connection is made using 1G adapter, one can see <---> symbol on the left bar at the same place where wifi symbol is present. Secondly, the 2.5G adapter suggested by @etucker from Belkin requires driver, otherwise it would not be detected no matter I used DHCP addressing.
Please just suggest me an appropriate 2.5G adapter that is suitable with ML2. Thanks
Our team uses what we recommended, so we can confirm it works.
Could you please confirm that it is Belkin 2.5G USB-C to Ethernet Adapter? If yes, could you help me out with the steps for the connection? Thanks
Could you please confirm that it is Belkin 2.5G USB-C to Ethernet Adapter? If yes, could you help me out with the steps for the connection? Thanks
Hey @kdowney and @etucker , I have been troubleshooting where the issue is with the 2.5G USB-C to ethernet adapter by checking the USB logs. When I attach the adapter, log indicates its attachment. However, I still cannot get the IP address in ML2. Could you please guide me about how to connect the ML2 using the 2.5G adapter?
For your information, when I attach 1G adapter, ML2 automatically gets the IP address from the DHCP server. With 2.5G, it never gets an IP address!
Hi @hkumar4,
We are working on this issue and will report back as soon as we find a solution for you. Thank you for your patience.
Best,
El
Hey @etucker, Have you resolved this issue? I have just update the software, now i can check the adapter connection notifications while I attach the adapter (2.5G), but it ML2 still does not support that. By that, I cannot connect magic leap-2 with ethernet using 2.5G ethernet adapter.
Hi @hkumar4,
This issue is on our radar and is in progress. We should be releasing a fix soon. Make sure to keep an eye out for our release notes.
Best,
El
Many thanks! Could you tell me how long would it take approximately?
Actually, we are middle of something, we found a way to not use ML2 directly and use another machine (for high performance GMU) for a relay just because of adapter issue. It is making our project a little ugly and inflexible.
We want to have a direct connectivity with ML2 as our target work can be supported by ML2 machine as it has powerful SoC and GPU to handle the tasks.
I cannot offer an exact timeline but a fix will be coming soon.
Hey, Has this issue been resolved in the latest release?
